This kitchen renovation in Prenton, Wirral began with a clear brief from Mr & Mrs Natesan: create a light, bright and airy family kitchen that looked beautiful while being practical enough for busy everyday life.
Quartz worktops were chosen for their durable, easy-to-maintain finish, while the layout was carefully planned to create a cleaner and more practical main kitchen.
One of the biggest changes was moving the washing machine and tumble dryer out of the kitchen completely. We created a separate utility area by constructing a new stud wall and doorway, with foam insulation added to help minimise appliance noise.
The result would give the family a calmer kitchen with laundry and additional practical functions neatly separated from the main living space.
First-fix plumbing and electrical works opened the project: new plumbing and waste alterations for both kitchen and utility, plus wiring for new spotlights, under-cabinet lighting and island lights. The painted Caserta kitchen was then fitted, and once all base units were in place the quartz worktops were measured for a precise fit. Final-fix electrics followed, then the worktops and the final plumbing of the sink and tap.
Mid-project, the clients’ separate building works introduced an RSJ that needed supporting above the kitchen. Rather than letting it spoil the design, options were talked through with the client and the larder unit and its door were reduced in height so everything reads as one clean run. The outcome worked well and the client was happy with the solution.
The completed renovation has transformed the way this Prenton home works for the family.
