This kitchen renovation in Bromborough, Wirral was designed to deliver a complete transformation in both layout and atmosphere. The customer wanted a spacious open-plan kitchen with generous storage and a layout that would connect naturally with the rest of the home, creating a warm, practical setting for cooking, relaxing and spending time together.
The existing arrangement felt too enclosed, so the project focused on opening everything up to create a brighter and more sociable environment. By removing two internal walls and introducing two Velux windows, the space was reimagined as one larger, lighter room with far better flow and a much stronger connection between the kitchen and the wider living area.
What makes this project especially distinctive is the scale of the structural work behind the finished look. This was not simply a kitchen replacement, but a carefully managed home improvement project that combined building works, services, finishing and installation to create a space that felt completely transformed.
The project was completed over 7 weeks, starting with the structural work required to safely open up the existing rooms. RSJs were fitted to support the new layout, allowing the internal walls to be removed and the home to take on a much more open-plan feel.
Alongside the structural changes, new electrical works were carried out, including a 3-way switching system to give the customer more flexible lighting options across the space. New plumbing was also installed for the sink and appliances, followed by plastering, painting and finishing works to prepare the room for the final kitchen installation.
A wide range of trades were coordinated throughout the project, including a builder for the RSJ work, kitchen fitter, flooring fitter, roofer, electrician, plumber, plasterer and painter. This level of coordination was essential to keep the build moving in the right order and maintain quality across each stage.
One challenge emerged during the fitting of the Velux windows, when it was discovered that the roof had previously been installed incorrectly. The customer was kept fully informed, options were explained clearly, and although this added several days to the programme, regular updates helped the project continue with confidence and transparency.
The finished result is a bright, open and highly practical kitchen space that has changed the way the home can be used every day.
